Signs You Need to Schedule an Appointment with a Revere Beach, MA Chimney Sweep
Whether you use your fireplace to warm your Suffolk County home, or you only use it to create ambiance a few times a year, having your chimney swept on a regular basis is extremely important.
Every time you light a fire, the byproducts of combustion, such as creosote, soot, and ash, accumulate inside the flue. Because these elements are highly combustible, it only takes a little to cause a major problem, such as a chimney fire. Don’t put the health and safety of your family and your Suffolk County home at risk! If you can answer ‘yes’ to any of the following questions, it’s definitely time to call a chimney sweeper near you.
Are you having problems with your fires?
If it seems like fires are slow to start, they don’t seem to be burning as powerfully as usually do, or if smoke is pouring back into your Suffolk County home, you should call a Revere Beach, MA chimney sweep.
As creosote, soot, and ash build up in a chimney, oxygen won’t be able to readily reach the fire, and as a result, it can be difficult to get a fire going, or the fires you do get started won’t burn as powerfully as they should. Additionally, the buildup of these byproducts along the inside of the chimney liner can prevent smoke from traveling out of the chimney as efficiently as it should, and rather than exhausting out of your Suffolk County house, it can start pouring back in. Fire issues can also be a sign that exterior debris, such as leaves, twigs, and even animal nests, have accumulated inside the chimney. A reputable chimney sweeper near you will be able to identify and remedy the cause of the problem so that you can get back to enjoying your fireplace again.
Do you smell strange odors?
The smoke from a fireplace creates a very distinct smell, but it shouldn’t be overwhelming. If the smell of smoke is very strong and it’s filling your entire Suffolk County house, your chimney may be dirty, clogged, or damaged; all factors that can prevent smoke from exiting your home.
The smoke in your fireplace is supposed to exhaust through the chimney, but if it’s coated with creosote, soot, and ash, clogged with debris, or damaged, instead of exiting your house, the smoke will remain trapped in the fireplace, creating an overwhelming throughout the interior of your home. Whatever the cause, a reputable Revere Beach, MA chimney sweep will correct the issue and will ensure that your chimney is functioning properly.
Are you unable to recall the last time you had your chimney cleaned?
If you can’t remember the last time you had your chimney cleaned and inspected – or you know that you’ve never had it serviced – scheduling an appointment with a chimney sweeper near you is an absolute must! Even if you don’t use your fireplace regularly, the National Fire Prevention Association recommends annual chimney cleanings. If you use your fireplace often, to ensure the health and safety of your family and your Suffolk County home, you might want to have it cleaned and inspected by a professional more frequently.

Revere is a city in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States, located approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) from downtown Boston. Founded as North Chelsea in 1846, it was renamed in 1871 after the American Revolutionary War patriot Paul Revere. In 1914, the Town of Revere was incorporated as a city. As of the 2020 United States Census, the city has a population of 62,186 inhabitants.
Revere’s first inhabitants were Native Americans who belonged to the Pawtucket tribe and were known to colonists as the Rumney Marsh Indians.
The Rumney Marsh was named by the English after Romney Marsh in Kent, England. Nanepashemet, known to colonists as ‘Sagamore George,’ was the leader, or Great Sachem of the Pawtucket Confederation of Abenaki People of Lynn (which at that time included present day Revere). Nanepashemet is thought to have sometimes lived near the Rumney Marsh. One branch of his family took ‘Rumney Marsh’ as their surname.
In 1616, an epidemic, probably smallpox, swept the region, killing thousands in its wake. Nanepashemet retired to the Mystic River, in what is now Medford, but was found murdered in 1619 at his fort on the brow of Rock Hill overlooking the river. Three sons succeeded him in his reign. One of them, Wonohaquaham, also called ‘Sagamore John,’ had jurisdiction over the Native Americans at Winnisemmit (later Chelsea) and Rumney Marsh.
